Halve Marathon Rotterdam returns in honor of the World Police & Fire Games.
The World Police & Fire Games are international games for personnel of the police, fire brigade, customs and the Correctional Institutions. This year, for the first time in history, these championships will be held in the Netherlands.
From 22 to 31 July 2022, the Netherlands will be fully dedicated to the World Police & Fire Games. For ten days, the city of Rotterdam will be the beating heart of this grand and above all unique sporting event. Championships are held in 63 sports, one of which is the half marathon. During Halve Marathon Rotterdam, participants of the World Police & Fire Games will practice this sport on the same course as the participants of the 21.1K Summer Run Rotterdam.
More than 10,000 police officers, firefighters, customs and prison officers from 70 different countries participate in the WPFG2022. They will come in action in 63 different sports, including crossfit, athletics, triathlon, crossfit, water polo, kite surfing, the ultimate firefighter and of course Halve Marathon Rotterdam.
The World Police & Fire Games 2022 use sport as a way to facilitate encounters between first responders. In addition, the goal is to stimulate sportsmanship and to generate respect for all those paramedics who are ready to help us day and night.
Hence the motto of the WPFG2022: 'IN SPORT WE UNITE'
During the WPFG2022, there are 30 locations throughout the Netherlands where activities are organized. Rotterdam is the beating heart of this unique event.
In addition to the many sports events and smaller events in Rotterdam, an 'Athletes Village' is being set up on Willemsplein. It is going to be a vibrant gathering place for everyone involved in the games. In addition to having valuable encounters, a cultural program and sports demonstrations can be enjoyed.
It promises to be a great experience for both participants and visitors in summer 2022.
